UV light curing hose liner system using highly resistant premium vinyl ester resin

Chemically and thermally, industrial waste water is considerably more polluted than municipal waste water and is composed of highly dissimilar media. This translates into high demands on the material properties of a hose liner system, aimed at ensuring a long-lasting utilisation of the rehabilitated sewer.


RELINEEUROPE's AlphalinerVEU and/or AlphalinerVEU is a product for rehabilitating industrial waste water sewers. What is new and unique about it is the fact that contrary to conventional light curing liner systems, we use highly resistant premium vinyl ester resin (VEU).
What distinguishes vinyl ester is its high temperature resistance of up to 100°C and its chemical resistance combined with very good mechanical properties (rigidity / breaking strain).

UV light curing enables rehabilitation projects in the shortest amount of time possible. The small size of the site setup also meets the high demands of industrial plants.

Vinyl ester resin (symbol: VE) is a synthetic resin and, when cured, a highly stable and chemically resistant thermoset plastic.

Vinyl ester resins are produced by esterifying epoxy resins using acrylic acid or methacrylic acid. In our case, the reaction product is then dissolved in styrene with a weight percent of 35 to 45. Curing is achieved using radical polymerisation, here: UV light curing.

AlphalinerVEUWe use a vinyl ester (VE; classified as per DIN EN 13121 into group 7a; DIN 16946-2 type 1310) as well as a highly resistant premium vinyl ester resin (VEU; classified as per DIN EN 13121 into group 8; DIN 16946-2 type 1310) as well as corrosion- and chemically resistant ECR glass fibres.

On their inner liner surface, Alphaliners have a special wearing course in compliance with DWA-A 143-3 and DIN EN ISO 11296-4. This wearing course is achieved by using a vylene-bonded high-grade resin layer of at least 0.5mm thickness (DIBt approval at least 0.4mm). Currently, Alphaliners are the only hose liners in the world offering a defined wearing course thickness.

The AlphalinerVE models exhibit excellent mechanical characteristics and are graded as per DWA-M 144-3 into groups 13 and 20. This qualifies them to withstand the highest structural stress loads at a comparatively small wall thickness.
